Some introductory events include middle school students.<\/li>\n<li>Competition in high school is most often double-handed on Club 420s or Flying Juniors (FJs) with occasional events sailing on singlehanded ILCA Lasers or triple-handed boats such as the Flying Scot.<\/li>\n<li>The High School sailing regatta format is mostly Fleet Racing (year round), Team Racing (in the Spring), and occasionally Match racing.<\/li>\n<li>High school sailing is governed by the<span style=\"color: #333399;\">\u00a0<a style=\"color: #333399;\" href=\"https:\/\/hssailing.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Interscholastic Sailing Association<\/a><\/span>.<\/li>\n<li>We conduct several High School regattas each year during the Fall and Spring seasons. Areas such as the Great Lakes, Chesapeake Bay, Long Island Sound, Gulf Coast, and many other areas each have regional sailing authorities that conduct one-design, handicap, or distance races for both adult and youth sailors.<\/li>\n<li>For example, we conduct races for and Scott serves as the Race Chairman of the <span style=\"color: #333399;\"><a style=\"color: #333399;\" href=\"http:\/\/westmichiganyouthsailing.org\">West Michigan Youth Sailing Association<\/a><\/span>. Lisa serves as the Chief Scorer and Registration Wrangler. The WMYSA is a cooperative alignment of 10-15 youth sailing programs throughout southwest Michigan that hosts collective events throughout the summer months. Scott and Lisa have been instrumental in the success of the WMYSA since just after its inception in 2006. Click\u00a0<span style=\"color: #333399;\"><a style=\"color: #333399;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mlive.com\/sports\/muskegon\/2014\/08\/junior_regatta_to_end_four-cit.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HERE<\/a><\/span> to read a 2014 news article regarding the WMYSA.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 id=\"national-sailing-organizations\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">National Sailing Authorities &amp; Associations<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottcorder.com\/raceofficial\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/06\/YOUTH-CHAMPS.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-79 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scottcorder.com\/raceofficial\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/06\/YOUTH-CHAMPS-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.scottcorder.com\/raceofficial\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/06\/YOUTH-CHAMPS-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.scottcorder.com\/raceofficial\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/06\/YOUTH-CHAMPS-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.scottcorder.com\/raceofficial\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/06\/YOUTH-CHAMPS.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>In the United States, the sport of sailing is governed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ussailing.org\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\">US Sailing<\/span><\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>In addition to its role in Olympic Sailing, US Sailing conducts national championships for a variety of sailing disciplines:\n<ul>\n<li>Youth sailing, adult sailing, para-sailing, women&#8217;s sailing, team sailing, match racing, offshore sailing, multi-hull sailing, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Some of these national championships determine which sailors will represent the US at World Championship events.<\/li>\n<li>Scott has served as a Principal Race Officer or we have both served on the Race Committee for a handful of these events.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Together or individually, we have attended numerous regional and national US Sailing symposiums, summits, stakeholders conferences, and Judge Roundtables.<\/li>\n<li>Scott was selected to be a presenter at the 2022 <span style=\"color: #333399;\"><a style=\"color: #333399;\" href=\"https:\/\/nsps.ussailing.org\">US Sailing National Sailing Programs Symposium<\/a><\/span> (NSPS) that was unfortunately canceled due to Covid.<\/li>\n<li>Scott also played a key role on the committee that researched, defined, recruited, and ultimately recommended the first ever full-time Executive Director for the <span style=\"color: #333399;\"><a style=\"color: #333399;\" href=\"https:\/\/collegesailing.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Intercollegiate Sailing Association<\/a><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sailors of all ages and abilities rely on our race management skills.
